The Florida Department of Transportation’s, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise initiated a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study (What is a PD&E Study?) in November 2008 to evaluate a portion of the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike (SR 821) located in northern Miami-Dade County and southern Broward County. This portion extends approximately eighteen miles from SR 836 (Dolphin Expressway) at Milepost 27 to east of Northwest 57th Avenue at Milepost 45. The purpose of this study is to analyze alternatives for capacity and operational improvements.
