Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike Projects
NORTHWEST 170TH STREET INTERCHANGE
Flagler Development, and the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise are performing a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for a new interchange at the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike. The new interchange is being considered at Milepost 37 of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
The proposed interchange will provide access to the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike to/from the east (along the proposed Northwest 170th Street). Access to the west will not be provided as the Miami-Dade County Urban Development Boundary lies to the west of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike. As part of the interchange construction, Northwest 170th Street will extended as an over-pass over the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike mainline. This interchange will be designed for all-electronic toll collection. Ramps to/from the north will be tolled using SunPass electronic collection methods. Ramps to/from the south will not be tolled.
The interchange will be compatible with the future extension and widening of Northwest 170th Street (currently under study by a Flagler Development) and the future widening of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike mainline (under study by the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise). What is a PD&E Study?
